Two Picobello Horses’ breeding products within top 3 in Calgary

11 / 06 / 2019
Two horses of your own breeding that finish within the top three in the same 1.50m class, Picobello Horses experienced it in Calgary. Ten years ago Romeo 88 was born in Hooglede as Champion of Picobello Z. In Canada, this stallion by Contact van de Heffinck x Orlando only jumped his second international competition together with Darragh Kenny. Their results confirm that Darragh and Romeo already are a well-coordinated team. At the beginning of May in Lexington, Romeo didn’t make any jumping faults and last weekend in Calgary he also left all bars up. In addition to two ninth places, the two secured Friday’s victory in the 1.50m jump-off as well. Five combinations were qualified for this jump-off, in which only two clear rounds were ridden. Darragh Kenny and Romeo tapped the timers in 44.33 seconds, which was 5.5 seconds faster than the Italian Nicolas Pizarro. The third place went to the Australian Scott Keach and Born To Be Picobello Z (Belin x Carthago Z) with four penalty points in the jump-off.

Romeo 88 and Born To Be Picobello Z have the same breeder, but they don’t share the same dam line. Romeo is the full brother to Isolde vd Heffinck (1.50m with Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida) and the half-brother to Check Picobello Z, who finished third with Eric Lamaze in the 5* GP of Calgary three years ago. Born To Be Picobello Z is the full brother to Concentus 4 (1.60m with Jens Christ).

For Daniel Rihan Goreneche from Mexico and Couleur van Berkenbroek (Couleur Rubin x Carthago Z), there was another third place at 1.45m level.
