Zangersheide colors Knokke Hippique blue and yellow

04 / 07 / 2018
Knokke Hippique stands for equestrian sport at the highest level in a unique framework. It is a perfect fit in which the perception around the sport is key. Excellent weather and enthusiastic supporters added the finishing touches. And not to forget the performance of the Z horses, because the podium in Knokke was often colored in Zangersheide blue and yellow.

Christian Ahlmann and the Zangersheide stallion Caribis Z (Caritano x Canabis Z) rode to third place in the jump-off at 1.45m level. Caribis Z descents out of a proven dam line, with dam Canasta Z who jumped at the highest level with Paris Sellon and grand dam Carlaya Z who performed under Judy Ann Melchior at 1.50m level.

At the highest level, the 1.60m grand prix, the ten-year-old Darco son Dublin van Overis Z did a great job. His breeders Gerald Lenaerts and Sigrid Gielen got goosebumps when they saw Dublin clearing both Uliano Vezzani’s difficult first round and the jump-off, finishing in eighth place.

Patrick McEntee and Alice Mury Marais Z (Air Jordan Z x Calvin Z) jumped to two second places and were victorious in the final 1.40m class. With April Mury Marais (Air Jordan Z x Quinar) McEntee gained a first and fourth place.

Jos Verlooy and the eight-year-old promising Cor-Leon vd Vlierbeek Z (Calvaro Zx Omar) won a 1.40m class. Koen Vereecke and Diadarco van Evendael Z did the same. Vincent Bartin and Caramba du Ruisseau Z (Carambo x Nabab de Reve) were good for third place. Caroline T. Z (Contendro I x Diamant de Semilly) and Christophe Vanderhasselt were unbeatable in the 1.45m speed class. For Gudrun Patteet and Sea Coast Pebbles there was a second place at a height of 1.50m.

Not only the greats of the earth are in the spotlight in Knokke. On the opening day, Axelle Deleu won the 1.15m speed class with Sea Coast Azzaro Z, a fifteen-year-old stallion by Andiamo Z x Feinschnitt I van de Richter. They ended second in Sunday’s closing class. Azzaro Z already jumped at 1.55m level under Ivo Biessen. Bonzai van de Warande (1.60m with Juan Carlos Garcia), Gladstone (1.60m with Juan Carlos Alvarez del Castillo) and Hermes (1.60m with Keith Shore) are well-known half-brothers to him. At 1.30m level, the British Rosalie Biedron won a class with Tucson Z (Toulon x Calvaro Z).

In the classes for young horses, Joe Clee and Thunder G Z (Tyson x Dutch Capitol) took the win at the seven-year-olds. Philippe Le Jeune did the same with Very High de Muze Z (Vigo d'Arsouilles x Garmisch) at the six-year-olds. Hendrik Denutte and Nazaro Z also tried to win, but they finished half a second later and became third.
