Aganix sisters on one and three in Opglabbeek

04 / 02 / 2019
Strong performances from Melanie Gelin in Sentower Park last weekend. In the final for seven-year-old horses she finished both first and third with the full sisters Attoucha Hero Z and Alana Hero Z, both bred by Luc Henry and Gerry Marron.

These seven-year-old mares are descendants of Aganix du Seigneur Z x Diamant de Semilly and their third dam is none other than the elite mare Usha van 't Roosakker. Attoucha Hero Z already won Thursday’s qualifier for seven-year-olds. She didn’t touch a fence in Opglabbeek and in the final her chrono of 38.25 seconds was unequaled. Gelin also rode a double clear with Alana Hero Z. They tapped the timers in 39.67 seconds, good for third place. It took Sofia Westborg and Concordia Z (Chiquitano Z x Zandor Z) 0.02 seconds longer, which costed them a place on the winners’ podium. With their time of 39.69 seconds they became fourth.

Maikel van der Vleuten finished three times in fourth place with Beauville Z (Bustique x Jumpy des Fontaines), including in the two-star Grand Prix. Michael Greeve won the third GP qualifier with Turbo Z (Thunder vd Zuuthoeve x Renville), which was also a Longines ranking class.

The French rider Niels Tacken guided Chenna Z (Chablis I Z x Katell xx) to a victory and a fourth place at 1.40m level. Francisco Rocha from Portugal saddled C Berriz, from Coltaire Z x Naturel. After a first place in Friday’s 1.35m class with two phases, they were also second in Saturday’s speed class. Gilles Dunon did the same with Cava Felinae Z (Centurion 22 x Toulon) in the classes for five and six-year-olds. Lucy Struthers and the Asca Z son Ascon Z (sd: Conan Z) became the runners-up in the 1.30m leveled speed class.
