Antello Z put down

01 / 01 / 2016
The new year could not have started worse for Cameron Hanley. After the World Cup of Mechlin. He and his top horse Antello Z (Animo II Z) travelled on to Liverpool, where he had a fall today and had to be put down. The 1.60m horse reached the jump-off in the 1.45m class and then the Irish rider rode for victory. But Antello Z had not yet settled in the impressive ring of the new British CSI4* show and had a fall. The rider miraculously came out unharmed, but there was no other solution for the horse than putting him out of his misery.

With the death of Antello Z, born at Zangersheide, Cameron Hanley lost the horse with which he had the closest tie. He trained him, but then had to hand him over to Michael Whitaker when he, Cameron Hanley, sustained a life-threatening knee injury. When he started riding again after a few years, he advised his sponsors to buy Antello back. He won the Global Champions Tour in Hamburg on the horse and a lot more, but after a while the owner and his horses moved to Pius Schwizer. Eventually Antello returned to his home at Hanley. He was exchanged for a part of the shares in the younger star Living The Dream.

But Hanley did not get the chance to ride Antello for much longer. In the last half year the combination did win the GP of Donaueschingen, a 1.50m class in Millstreet and the Winning Round of Stuttgart. In Geesteren they finished in second place.
