Antello Z wins Riders Tour

21 / 05 / 2013
Carl, or in full Cameron Hanley, just triumphed in the DKB Riders Tour in Wiesbaden in the saddle of Antello Z (Animo II Z), a breeding product from one of Belgium´s most respected studfarms: Studfarm Zangersheide. The story of Hanley and Antello is brimming with emotion. Two years ago the rider was still fighting for his life after he had incurred complications resulting from a knee injury. It was only at the start of this year that he made his comeback during the Sunshine Tour. Antello Z was brought on by himself, subsequently sold to Michael Whitaker and repurchased early this year to boost his own career with a new lift-off. Victory was just about snatched away from Hans-Dieter Dreher and his jet-black stallion Embassy II (Escudo) who had to settle for second place. The last and decisive ride was for Katharina Offel who took her chances at full speed, kept a clean record but missed victory by a mere second. It resulted in a third place for her and the grey gelding Charlie (Cornet Obolensky). In fourth place came Maikel van der Vleuten on VDL Groep Verdi (Quidam de Revel). Gregory Wathelet on Cadjanine had to face one rail in the first round and Cindy Van der Straten (Zep) gave up.
