Cadjanine Z wins seventh WEF Cup

21 / 02 / 2014

The already seventh Ruby et Violette WEF Cup on Thursday in Wellington was won by two Brazilians. Since more than a hundred combinations had entered for this class, it was doubled and also the prize money was doubled to $250,000. Alvaro de Miranda and AD Uutje (Monaco) won the A class with the fastest time of the whole pack. His victory in the Thursday GP was his second this season. Rodrigo Pessoa and Citizenguard Cadjanine Z (Cannabis Z) went a fraction slower and won the B class. Yuri Mansur (Amor, by Namelus R) had the third best time and finished second in class A. Three Brazilians dominated the WEF Cup in week seven and so caused an early Brazilian carnaval party in Wellington.
In a 1.45m class another two Z-horses reached the top five. Mclain Ward finished in fourth place on his brandnew acquisition Carlos VHP Z. Daniel Zetterman and the almost always faultless Chellana B Z (Chellano Z) came fifth. This mare was bred by the Van Dam family from Lienden, the Netherlands, and was first stabled at Johan Heins. Before she was sold to the Swedish Zetterman stables, she was ridden by Michael Greeve.
In the class for 6-yr-olds there was victory for Lavitto Z, a young Levisto, ridden by Maggie McAlary and bred by the Vissers family from the village America in the Netherlands.
