Caritiar Z only clear round in Hickstead Derby

24 / 06 / 2013
The British Jumping Derby, one of the heaviest derby’s in the world, was won by a Dutch bred Zangersheide horse. Caritiar Z (Chellano Z x Concorde) and the British rider Philipp Miller were the only combination to stay clear in this long-winded thriller in which only eighteen of the 36 combinations, precisely fifty percent, made it to the finish. Caritiar Z was born as Cartier Z at mister Van der Steen from Gemonde, NL. He already claimed two victories in the Sunshine Tour in Vejer de la Frontera this year, but the Hickstead victory was the best in his career so far. Caritiar Z also finished fifth after the jump-off on Friday. In the main class on Saturday, during the Derby meeting at Hickstead, another Chellano son almost won. Camiro de Haar Z was easily the fastest four faulter in the jump-off of the Bunn Leisure Derby Trophy and his time had been good enough for victory. Camiro is a horse from Michael Whitaker which is ridden by Richard James Hawley. Piet Griffioen from Haarzuilen (NL) is the breeder.
