Carolus Z second, ZZ Top fifth in GP WEF

15 / 02 / 2014

It is hunter week in Wellington. The best showjumping combinations do not start there, except for a few oncoming Z-horses. Kent Farrington and Blue Angel won both on Thursday and Friday the GP in Wellington, their third GP victory this year. In yesterday’s CSI2* GP Farrington beat the Olympic bronze medal winner Cian O'Connor from Ireland on his relatively new Carolus Z (Cannabis Z), ex-Hubert Bourdy, bred by Johan De Bock. ZZ Top vh Schaarbroek Z (Zandor Z), fourth only yesterday, now was the fastest four faulter and finished in fifth place before Venezuela with the junior rider Emanuel Andrade, bred by Henri Van Craen. The total prize pot yesterday amounted to $84,000. This weekend of this sixth WEF week there is no GP on the programme. Nevertheless, tonight’s hunter championship is about $100,000. This Sunday the annual Wellington Derby will be ridden on the nearby grass ring The Stadium. There was a third prize over 1.40m for Corona du Domaine Z (Coronado) bred by Luc De Brauwer. Yesterday there was a third prize for Chellana B Z (Chellano Z) under Daniel Zetterman for Sweden.
