Citizenguard Cadjanine Z wins first World Cup

09 / 03 / 2014
After a crazy jump-off with seventeen riders, Citizenguard Cadjanine Z (Cannabis Z) won her first World Cup victory in Wellington last night, ridden by Rodrigo Pessoa. Never before was the mare given so much freedom, never before did she go so fast. No-one came even close to her time, not even the best combination in the world, Ben Maher on Cella. They had a fault, but they would never have beaten that time anyway.

Pessoa describes his top mare as unpredictable and capricious. 'She has all the qualities, but she has her 'off-days' as well. However, in Wellington she turned the switch. She had already won two WEF Cups and now she has got a World Cup victory. 'The World Cup Finals had so far not been in the planning. The WEG has top priority.' But it is still uncertain that Pessoa will start Cadjanine Z in Normandy. 'She can aboslutely handle that level, but I doubt that she will perform regularly over the days. My new horse Status (Stakkato) is more reliable in that field. End of July I will decide which one I will take.'
