Don VHP Z third in GCT Paris

11 / 07 / 2017
Harrie Smolders took over the lead again from Christian Ahlmann in the interim ranking of the Global Champions Tour. He thanks this move forwards to the third place in the Paris Grand Prix, just under the Eiffel Tower. Smolders jumped another double clear on his stallion Don VHP Z (Diamant de Semilly), which he describes as one of the most regular horses on the circuit. Not only did Don jump a double clear in the GP, he also reached the jump-off in Friday;s main class. But he withdrew for that jump-off in view of the coming GP, which still earned him a seventh place. Last week Don VHP Z had also finished fifth in the Rotterdam GP and jumped a double clear for the Netherlands in the Nations Cup there. At the same time Mclain Ward won two classes in the Canadian Summer Tour in Calgary with HH Carlos Z (ex-Carlos VHP Z, by Chellano Z), a half-brother to Don VHP Z. Breeder is the late Guy De Schuymer, whose son John won the Z-ranking two years running. He is again holding a good position, for Don VHP Z is in the lead at the moment.

In Paris there also was a sixth place for Cynar VA (Cynar Z, by Clarimo) under Jessica Springsteen. This sensational grey, bred by Manfred von Ahlwörden, jumped a double clear in the final class over 1.50m. Quivive S Z (Quidam de Revel) bred by Peter Simons was ridden into fifth place by Eric Van Der Vleuten Sr. over 1.45m. Cliff Z (Canturano Z) won three places in the CSI1*. This horse was bred by Wesenbeeck-Segers.
