Douglass Duffin en Quidam B Z turn second in Portuguese 3* GP

11 / 03 / 2019
The 38-year-old British rider Douglas Duffin jumped to a second place with Quidam B Z in the 1.50m CSI3* Grand Prix of Vilamoura. Quidam B Z is a stallion by Quasimodo Z x Ramiro Z, bred 14 years ago by C.J.M. Bruers from Alphen in the Netherlands. Out of 31 entries, 5 duos were qualified for the jump-off. Duffin and Quidam B Z put down the fastest lap by far, but along the way a bar fell down, which made them the runners-up.

At 1.40m level the Brazilian rider Felipe Ramos Guinato just fell outside the top three with Chippo Z (Chippendale Z x Faust Z), bred by Jos Aegten. Cassius vd Bunte Z, of Calvaro Z x Westworld, achieved a fifth place with Thierry Goffinet in the saddle. In the 1.45m class against the clock, Thierry also took a third place with Eyecatcher of Two Notes Z (Emilion x Chin Chin).

The British combinations were strongly represented in the final for five-year-olds, with Barry Dove and Chatagra Z (Chaman x Carthago Z) in third place and Emma Stoker with Skylandria Z (Super Trooper de Ness x Indoctro) placed fourth. They both rode three consecutive clear rounds.

Neuchatel Z (Nonstop x Goodtimes) and Marc Bettinger also finished fourth in the 1.45m final for seven-year-old horses.
