European Youth Championships: two Z horses in the lead

11 / 07 / 2019
At the European Youth Championships in Zuidwolde, the Netherlands, the Z horses are leading the classification for Young Riders and Juniors!

Dieter Vermeiren and Kingston Town 111 Z became second at the Belgian Championship for Young Riders last month, where they gained their ticket for the European Championship. At this EC, Dieter and Kingston didn't miss their target. In the first qualifying competition, a speed class at 1.45m level, they were the only ones out of 79 participants who finished clear in less than 73 seconds. So now Dieter and Kingston Town 111 Z are on top of the standings for Young Riders. The eleven-year-old Kingston Town was bred by Stal Harrie Theeuwes and is a son of Kasmir van Schuttershof out of the 1.60m jumping Chellano Z mare Shahenaz, who originally called Foreplay 111.

While still being a junior, Thibeau Spits did exactly the same. He also became the vice-winner at the Belgian championship with his other horse Juragold Bormes. After his very first CSI3* GP victory with Bellissimo Z in Bonheiden at the end of last month, Thibeau tied the knot and decided that Bellissimo Z would go to the European Championship. This ten-year-old mare by Bamako de Muze x Chin Chin, bred by Patrick Sebrechts, is meeting all expectations. In Zuidwolde, the first competition for Juniors consisted of a 1.40m course against the clock, in which Thibeau and Bellissimo Z outclassed the competition by two seconds. Harrie Allen, the younger brother of Bertram Allen, currently takes fifth place in the standings with Dancing Queen Z (Dulf Van De Bisschop x Quintessence Z).
