Mechlin: good work from Cornado II Z, As Cold As Ice Z and Crowntano Z

31 / 12 / 2014
Zangersheide can look back with a contented smile at the very last show of the year, as usual the one at Mechlin. In the World Cup Christian Ahlmann performed remarkably in the jump-off and finished in fourth place on the impressive stallion Cornado II Z (Cornet Obolensky), which will be available to the breeders of Zangersheide as from next year. Also Judy-Ann Melchior made it to the jump-off, but then had a fault in the double. On her breeding product As Cold As Ice Z (Artos Z) she just made the top ten, as did Nicola Philippaerts, the fastest four-faulter of the first round, on Challenge vd Begijnakker Z (Chellano Z) bred by Bart Keisse. Platform places on the final day of Jumping Mechlin in the side classes were for Papillon Z (Perhaps) under Damien Plume, bred by H. Guisson, Don VHP Z (Diamant de Semilly), bred by G. de Schuymer, under Harrie Smolders and Best of Opus Dei Z (Balou du Rouet) ridden by Dominique Joassin and bred by Monique Henkes. Another top-class performance came from another Z-horse yesterday, when Jef Wellens on Careful Z vh Hofterrijckel, bred by Garry Gorus, won the CSIU25 Grand Prix.
We can also proudly report that Crowntano Z (Crown Z), bred by Studfarm Zangersheide, showed himself well also in Mechlin. As a 7-yr-old, he jumped two clear rounds in the 1.40m-1.45m classes. On the final day he reached the jump-off and only had a time fault in the Queen’s Cup. In fact, there were several offspring of Crown Z that performed impressively. Kevin Staut came with Sunday Top HDC, Niklaus Rutschi rode Rana des Hayettes. Jonna Ekberg from the Stephex Stables gave a powerful performance on Ratina des Rondets.
