Sixth place for B Once Z in GP Amsterdam

27 / 01 / 2014

Yesterday offered fine sport in the Amsterdam GP. Six horses went clear. Experience proved the crucial factor in the jump-off. After having started here 27 times, John Whitaker finally won the GP in the RAI this year, and he already age 58. His 12-yr-old stallion Argento was the oldest starter in the jump-off, as well. Katharina Offel and the 10-yr-old, but at this level still relatively green mare B Once Z (Baloubet du Rouet) finished sixth in the GP after a flawless campaign in Amsterdam, which had already produced a fourth place on Friday. B Once Z was bred by the Schulpen family from Maria Hoop.
In the warming-up for the GP, a 1.45m class with a jump-off, Leon Thijssen claimed place four after a jump-off with nineteen riders. Thijssen rode Heartthago Z (Heartbreaker), his tiny chestnut mare by Heartbreaker, bred by the Smits family from Esch. Also Julia Kayser and Sterrehof’s Cayetano Z (Caretano), bred by Alphonso Romo out of Ratina’s daughter Calipa Z, rode a double clear, which was good for a ninth place. Cameron Hanley and Z-horse of the year 2013, Antello Z (Animo II Z) bred by the Melchior family, finished third in the 11.50m jumping on Saturday night.
