The eye-catchers of Z-Festivalů

04 / 08 / 2014
All the new champions from Z-Festival 2014 are now known. In the free jumping for 3-yr-olds victory went to Cwaprice Z (Celestinus) from mr Simons from Swalmen. Anyone wondering what the ancestry of sire Celestinus is? Well, he is a 7-yr-old son of Quaprice du Bois Margot, nowadays called Cwaprice Junior. Cwaprice Z won by half a point because of the power, suppleness and leg technique shown. Chimorka Z (Calvino Z) from the combination Sloof-Timmermans finished in second place, before Charmline JT Z (Canabis Z) from Johan Thijs. As many as 57 3-yr-olds had entered for this class.
For the 4-yr-olds under saddle also style was a criterion. Marco Brinkman won on the stallion Power Blue vh Breezerhof Z (Plot Blue). His breeder is Wim Van Hoof. Guy Beyers came second with Clear Sky du Sud Z (Cardento) and number three was the Z-licensed stallion Cooper Z (Chellano Z) from Studfarm Zangersheide, a copy of his half-brother Calvados Z, who is truly beginning to impress under saddle.

Finally, there were the qualifiers for the WC for 5- and 6-yr-olds. After adding up the points earned over the two days, winner of the 6-yr-olds was Loverboy Z (Level Z) from Studfarm Zangersheide, ridden by Ken Ruysen. Last year same stallion, then ridden by Judy-Ann Melchior, already made it to the top ten at the WC for 5-yr-olds. As the own Z-horses are not counted for the top three that may go to the WC, numbers two to four were placed. Second came Dirk Geenen on Zidan Z (Zürich), third was Leon Kuijpers on Cashmaker vd Laarse Heide Z (Chin Chin) and fourth Nico Baerts on Quilina Z (Quidam de Revel). Nick Verlies and Cassilias N89 Z (Cavaggio), the fastest of the only two to have a double clear round, just missed qualification.
In the 5-yr-olds Sunday’s winner showed the most regular performance over the two days. We are talking about René Van Zuilen and his stallion Charming Fellow Z (Clinton) from Global Sport Horse. Nick Verlies this time reached the top three with Notre Star Z (Numero Uno), before Anne Klein and Copiene Z (Capain Z) from the combination Hofma and Van Gelder.

Further noteworthy on the Sunday of Z-Festival was a second and a third place for the Zangersheide rider Tobias Thoenes in the finals for 5-yr-olds on Take a Chance on Me Z (Taloubet Z) and Calvaton Z (Calvados Z), both from own breeding.
