WEF Finals GP for Mclain Ward & HH Carlos Z

29 / 03 / 2015
The $500,000 Rolex Grand Prix of Wellington, the ultimate WEF finals of 2015, was won by Mclain Ward on the Zangersheide gelding HH Carlos Z (ex-Carlos VHP Z, by Chellano Z), bred by the late Guy De Schuymer. Only three of the forty best combinations in the bygone twelve weeks of the WEF season managed to go clear. The jump-off was a neck-to-neck race between Ward and the Colombian Daniel Bluman (Conconcreto Sancha la Silla, by Chin Chin), who was the winner two years ago. They finished within the same second, both had a fence down in the jump-off, but Mclain Ward clocked the best time. He and Carlos had also been on the American team that won the Nations Cup in Wellington this year. Georgina Bloomberg, the daughter of the mayor of New York, was the third candidate for the jump-off.
