Catoki & Halifax deliver the first champions in Lanaken

26 / 07 / 2018
Exactly 8h30: the first filly enters the arena... It’s the start of the Z-Festival in Lanaken! More than two hundred foals showed their qualities today at Stoeterij Zangersheide. Armed with the necessary fans and more than enough water supplies, everything was done to provide the horses (and breeders) comfort in this exceptional heat.

The first group of young fillies were so promising that no less than 12 foals were called for the grand finale. With some hundred foals in group A, it was Capraline Champion Z who was more than worthy of her name! The breeding product of T. de Boer is a daughter of Catoki x Landor S. Dam Apraline already gave birth to the nine-year-old 1m40 jumping horse Eckville DB (Cavalier) while her eight-year-old son Forestville DB (Cornet Fever) is active at 1m45 level. In addition, Apraline is also the sister of Naline (Polydox), who is better known as the dam of top jumping horse Simon (Mr. Blue). Simon won the World Cup Finals in Gothenburg in 2013 under the saddle of Beezie Madden while the gelding won bronze in 2011 at the European Championships in Madrid with Jeroen Dubbeldam in the irons.

The title of vice-champion was reserved for Stal Aegten BVBA and their Cicero Z van Paemel daughter Chablis AEG Z. Dam Aloubet (Baloubet du Rouet) comes out of the same dam line as Whisker (1m60 - Ryan Prater), Kalief(1m60 - Eric Wauters) and Victor (1m60 - Mohammed Al Kumeiti).

The bronze medal went to offspring of Asca Z. This A l'Aise de Betze Z is owned by Stud 2000 BVBA and has, besides the looks, also a very impressive dam line! Mother China Touch Hero (Chin Chin) jumped at 1m40 level under the saddle of Patricia Guery and already gave the approved stallion Sea Coast Don’t Touch Tiji Hero Z (Diamant de Semilly) who won several classes for 7-year-old horses under the saddle of Gudrun Patteet. Also Esprit de la Roque (1m45 - Guillaume Batillat), Jaguar de Tiji (1m50 - Janika Sprunger), Darshaan Hero (1m35 - Jérôme Guery), Just A Touch Hero (1m35 - Jeremy Le Roy) and the promising 7-year old Z-approved stallion Akarad Hero Z (1m35 - Jos Lansink) are half brothers and sisters of this A l'Aise de Betze Z.

The fourth place went to Triple Crown JT Z, bred and owned by Horsestud Thijs BVBA. This daughter of Thunder van de Zuuthoeve has Happy Days Z (Heartbreaker) as a mother, who is better known as the full sister of the 1m60 jumping Hardrock Z. In addition, this Happy Days Z is also the mother of the vice-champion young fillies of last year, namely Charmdate JT Z (Chacoon Blue). The Toulon-daughter True Passion vh Beeckhof Z, bred by Patrick & Romy Vandereyt out of Girona d'Arsouilles (Vigo d'Arsouilles), a half-sister of the 1m60 jumping Buddy Holly gained the fifth place. The last super finalist was Celli van het Hobos Z. The mother of this Cornet Obolensky-filly of Frank Goossens is none other than Covia Z (Corronell), who jumped at the highest level herself under the saddle of Karel Cox!

After the afternoon break, it was the turn of the young colts to show their excellence. With more than 100 participants, spectators were again pampered with top quality! The highest honor was reserved for Nico Schulpen’s Hocus Pocus S Z. Not only the looks of this Halifax from the Kluizebos-son are magical also his dam line is noteworthy! After all mother Comme Ci Comme Ca S Z (Comme Il Faut) is the half-sister of the 1m50 jumping Morley Z (Boeve's Montreux). In addition, her other half-sister For Funnetty Z (For Pleasure) is the dam of the 1m45 jumping Always Forever (Ephebe For Ever La Silla).

The silver medal stayed at Studfarm Zangersheide! With Crans Montana Z it was again the offspring of Comilfo Plus Z that scored this year. Already last year it was the same Comilfo Plus Z who presented the vice-champion on Thursday with Canada Z, then out of the dam line of As Cold As Ice Z! This time it was the dam line of the Zangersheide stallion Cascol Z and the promising 7-year old Zandycolle Z that was allowed to take home the vice-title.

Furthermore, Cornet Obolensky also directly left his mark on the finalists. The bronze went to Cornetique Z, bred by Hans Schipper. Mother Dajutha (Stakkato) jumped at 1m30 level with Anne Liza Makkinga and is also the half sister of the 1m60 jumping horses Noor (Libero H - Carry Engelsman) and Mystique (Indoctro - Yann Candele). The KWPN-approved Bustique (1m45 - Michel Hendrix) is also a half-brother of mother Dajutha.

The fourth place also went to a son of Cornet Obolensky. This Champteloup JT Z comes out of Cette Mona Z (Carthago Z) which makes him a half-brother to the 1m45 jumping Centerfield Z (Canturo) and the 1m40 jumping Notre Star Z (Numero Uno). The fifth place was occupied by Chackpot Twinkeling Z, bred by Stal den Twinkeling but now owned by Inge & Rob Van Gorp-Mertens. This Chacoon Blue colt is the half-brother of the 1m55 jumping Alaska V G Z (Andiamo - Eleonore Lambilliotte), who is in her turn the mother of the 1m60 jumping SX Hidalgo VG (Quadrillo - Daniel Deusser). The sixth place went to Litmanen Z, a Levisto Z-son bred by J.A. Smak. Litmanen Z’s dam line is also very promising with the 3 year old Z-approved stallion Karim (Harley VDL) as his half-brother and the 1m40 jumping Edsiliavanta (Berlin) as his half-sister. The super final was concluded by Blano VW van het Bellehof BVBA Z. This Balou du Rouet son is a half brother to Figaro d'Orange (Golden Hawk) who jumps at 1m40 level under Joris Vergauwen while dam Shakira Z (Shindler de Muze) is a sister of Charly Brown (Diamant de Semilly), active at 1m60 level with Teddy Vlock!

With all the quality we have seen today, we are more than curious about what tomorrow has to offer ...
