Diadarco Van Evendael Z fills top 3 in Waregem

Diadarco van Evendael Z clearly felt happy at the hippodrome of Waregem where the first edition of Waregem Horse Week took place. With Koen Vereecke in the saddle this son of Diamant de Semilly x Darco speeded after Thursday’s victory, to a second place on Friday and a third place in Sunday’s closing class of the 1.35m leveled Gold competition.

5* competition

Grégory Wathelet was the man on fire in the final 1.45m class against the clock. Besides the victory with the fourteen-year-old Eldorado van het Vijverhof, he was also placed third with the nine-year-old Spike vd Withoeve (Sting vd Withoeve x Rival Z). Christophe Vanderhasselt finished just outside the top three with Caroline T. Z, a daughter of Contendro I x Diamant de Semilly. Christian Ahlmann and the black pearl of Studbook Zangersheide Dominator 2000 Z also stayed completely clear. They took tenth place with their time of 77.05 seconds.

2* Gold

Next to Diadarco van Evendael Z who dominated the classes in the two-star Gold competition, other Z horses were also placed. There was a third place for the American Claire McKean who saddled Chloe (Chippendale Z x Quicksilver), the former horse of Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann.

In the 1.45m Grand Prix, Vincent Lambrecht and Carlos JD Z (Canturo x Baloubet du Rouet) fell just outside the podium. West Flemish Kelly Vandousselaere finished sixth with Scato van de Molenbrug Z (Hunter's Scendix x Charisma I) after a double clear performance.

2* Silver

On Thursday, the 1.35m leveled Silver class was a competition with two phases, in which Jorien Livens and Valley DH Z (Va-Vite x Contendro I) finished second. Marine Lenoble rode Nestor Z (Nonstop x Chicago I Z) to third place.

The next day it was a speed class. Cedrick Deknudt and Beijing Z (Bamako de Muze x Mr. Blue) became second, followed by Jorien Livens and Valley DH Z who after their second place on Thursday also took a third place on Friday.

On Saturday Alexandra Crown finished third with Berlina M Romagnolo Z (Berlin x Indoctro) and Mathieu Bourdeaud'Hui ended in fourth place with Toronto Z (Toulon x Indoctro). Toronto Z is the 7-year-old full brother to Wilm Vermeir’s 1.60m show jumper DM Jacqmotte.


In the closing class for seven-year-olds, 8 out of the 36 combinations were advanced to the jump-off. 6 of them managed to stay double clear. The Swedish lady rider of Stephex Stables Petronella Andersson took third place with Castres van de Begijnakker Z (Coriano Z x Palestro van de Begijnakker) in 33.45 seconds. Christian Ahlmann and the Zangersheide stallion Aga Khan Z (Accorado I x Stakkato) finished in 33.83 seconds, which was good for fifth place.

In the opening class for seven-year-olds, Jérôme Guery gained a third place with Canora Z (Clintissimo Z x Boy de la Barré II). Kevin Staut followed in fourth place with Touchant van T & L Z (Toulon x Nabab de Reve). Christian Ahmlann also remained completely clear with Aga Khan Z and became sixth.


The opening class for six-year-olds was won by Koen De Waele with Simply Magic KDW Z (Hunter's Scendix x Caretino). In Saturday's 1.35m leveled jump-off, the Spanish Julio Arias and Mylord Les Hauts Z (Mylord Carthago x Ogano Sitte) finished in third place after a double clear round.

1* competition

Gilles Faveere and the seven-year-old Adagio F Z (Arko III x Papillon Rouge) participated in the one star competition. In the jump-off at a height of 1.25m, they had to settle for second place.

Mathieu Bourdeaud'Hui and the six-year-old Totality Z (Toulon x Indoctro) also jumped to second place in the first 1.20m class with two phases. Totality Z is a full sister to DM Jacqmotte (1.60m with Wilm Vermeir) as well.

Quitona de la Cour Z (Quintus x Major de la Cour) and Paris Vandousselaere won three times in a row. They showed their superiority in Friday’s 1.05m class, Saturday’s 1.15m class and Sunday’s 1.10m class.
