Sea Coast Pebbles Z secures WC final in Basel

14 / 01 / 2019
The 10th leg of the Jumping World Cup was held in Basel last weekend. With only three more rounds ahead, it is gradually becoming clear who we will see at the final in Göteborg in early April.

The first World Cup of 2019 followed a similar trend as the last World Cup of 2018 in Mechelen. Due to the high time pressure many ‘rider and horse combinations’ made mistakes. Only three out of the 40 starters were allowed to return to the jump-off. It eventually became the Swiss Martin Fuchs who took the victory in front of his home crowd.

With one penalty point for exceeding the time allowed in the first round, Gudrun Patteet finished seventh with her Sea Coast Pebbles Z (Picasso Z x Flamenco de Semilly). A performance that generated 11 extra World Cup points, which means that they are certainty placed for the World Cup Final. Gudrun Patteet is currently lucky number seven and the highest ranked lady rider in the standings.

At the very top of the current standings is Steve Guerdat, followed by Pieter Devos, Martin Fuchs and Christian Ahlmann. Daniel Deusser closes the top five.

The winners of the Belgian WC, Christian Ahlmann and Clintrexo Z (Clintissimo Z x Rex Z) were placed 11th in the Swiss WC, after one block of the wall dropped down in the first round.

Dominator Z again catched the eye with spectacular rounds in Basel! In the final 1.50m class, it once again was a difficult job to finish within the time allowed. 14 of the 45 participants left the track with penalty points for time. Six combinations only had one penalty point, including Christian Ahlmann and Dominator Z (Diamant de Semilly x Cassini I), who became tenth. Lucia Le Jeune Vizzini ended just outside the top three with her ten-year-old Cabalgaro Z (Calvados Z x Caucalis).

In the 1.50m accumulator, Philipp Züger also finished fourth with Casanova F Z (Clinton x Darco). Simon Delestre was in sixth place with Qopilot Batilly Z (Qlassic Bois Margot x Cabdula du Tillard).

Marie Valdar Longem became seventh with Si La Sol de Greenbay Z (Schilling x Randel Z) in the 1.50m leveled course against the clock.
