Two months after their victory in the CSIO5* GP of San Miguel de Allende, the American rider Kent Farrington and his 10-year-old chestnut gelding Landon, a son of our chestnut stallion Comilfo Plus Z and Quadrillo, who was born at the home of breeder Danny Nijs as Crack de Nyze Z, again delivered a great performance last weekend! On the grass arena of Spruce Meadows in Calgary, the duo won on Saturday another CSI5* GP!

Farrington and Landon were in good shape again in Calgary and immediately showed that during the opening day on Wednesday. During the 1.50m main class they jumped a strong clear round and started their show with a nice 3rd place in the ranking.

But the absolute highlight of the weekend came on Saturday during the CSI5* GP. Farrington and Landon were one of the 6 combinations that remained clear in the basic round and so qualified for the jump-off. They again finished clear and with a time of 42.36 seconds they were more than 3 full seconds ahead of the competition.

Next to Farrington and Landon, the Irish rider Darragh Kenny also qualified for the jump-off with the 9-year-old stallion Hamrah Van Het Exelhof Z, a son of Harley VDL and Cassini I who was bred by Werner Essers. They also managed to set a good time in 43.72 seconds, but due to a fault along the way they had to settle for 5th place in the ranking. The Mexican rider Luis Gerardo Castaneda Mercado placed 8th during this CSI5* GP with the 11-year-old stallion Untakable (ex Utube Z – Untouchable x Pilot – B: Tops Horse Trading BV). They left all the poles in the cups in the basic round, but left the ring with 1 penalty point before time.

On Thursday, Kent Farrington also secured a victory in Calgary with the 9-year-old mare Toulayna van het Bloesemhof Z, a daughter of Toulon and Parco who was bred by Jasper Doucé. During the 1.55m main class they were one of the 6 combinations that managed to qualify for the jump-off and they managed to beat the competition with another clear round.

During the 1.50m main class on Sunday, the British lady rider Amanda Derbyshire managed to jump into the picture with the 11-year-old stallion Otto BH, a son of Norton d'Eole and Toulon who was born at the home of breeders Patteet and Van Ransbeeck as No Mercy Van T Kamerveld Z. In a jump-off for which also 6 combinations were able to qualify, Derbyshire and Otto BH Z again ensured a clear round and this performance earned them a 2nd place in the ranking.

Furthermore, the Canadian lady rider Vanessa Mannix was also placed in this class with the 12-year-old mare Carmela Z (Candillo Z x Caretano Z – B: F. Verhagen). They also managed to ensure a flawless performance in the jump-off and with that they secured a 4th place in the ranking. Moreover, it was already the second top ranking of the weekend for the duo, because they became already 2nd during the 1.45m class on Thursday.

On Friday, Darragh Kenny managed to jump to a podium place with the 12-year-old chestnut mare Arna 't Kruisveld Z (Arko III x Indoctro – B: Johan Torrekens), with whom he finished 2nd last month during the CSI5* GP here in Calgary. During the 1.45m class they remained clear in both the basic round and the jump-off and this performance again earned them a 2nd place in the ranking. The Canadian rider Tiffany Foster placed 6th in this class with the 9-year-old chestnut mare Electrique van het Cauterhof Z (Emerald van ’t Ruytershof x Voltaire – B: Spiessens & Co BVBA). They managed to do it even faster in the jump-off than Kenny and Arna 't Kruisveld Z, but saw a pole roll out of the cups.
