Next to an international two-star show, Azelhof in Lier has also been the setting for the Belgian Championship for 7-year-old horses last weekend. More than 200 combinations appeared at the start of this championship and with 2 Zangersheide horses on the podium it became another fantastic weekend for our blue/yellow colours!

The leading role was reserverd for Niels Bruynseels and the grey gelding Diamond Quality Z, a son of Diamant de Semilly and Cornet Obolensky who was bred by Koen Terryn of Quality Stud and who comes out of the same dam line as top sire Casall. Bruynseels and Diamond Quality Z were one of the ten combinations that also managed to keep clear in the final after the two qualifying rounds on Thursday and Friday. They qualified for the jump-off and were allowed to start as the eighth combination. Bruynseels and Diamond Quality Z rushed to the finish in a convincing time of 46.20 seconds and with that performance they were able to add this national title to their list of honors!

But we also got a second Zangersheide horse on the podium and Jeroen Appelen took care of that with the gelding Gently Z, a son of Gentleman and Numero Uno who was bred by Schoof and Vullers. Appelen and Gently Z entered the ring as second combination and with a clear round in 49.87 seconds they finally secured bronze.

In 4th place in this championship we saw Joris Vergauwen with the mare Exellentia Z, a daughter of El Torreo de Muze and Eldorado van de Zeshoek who was bred by Jerry Van Damme. As the last combination at the start, they also managed to ensure a clear round, but they crossed the finish line in 49.95 seconds.
