Silver for Dominant 2000 Z in the CSI2* GP of Mexico City

Next to the third leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour, a two-star competition took place on the beautiful grass fields of Campo Marte in Mexico City last weekend. The highlight of the weekend was of course the CSI2* GP on Sunday and just like last week in Miami, we also got a Zangersheide horse on the GP podium this time.

The 2nd place went to the Mexican rider Francisco Pasquel Vega with the 13-year-old stallion Dominant 2000 Z, a son of Diamant de Semilly and Cassini I who was bred by Stud 2000 BVBA and also a reference of our Zangersheide Quality Auction where he was sold in September 2010. Pasquel Vega and Dominant 2000 Z already took 3rd place during the 1.45m high Longines Ranking class on Friday and were one of only 2 combinations who were able to qualify for the jump-off during the CSI2* GP. They managed to set the fastest time in 38.30 seconds, but because they also run into 4 penalty points along the way, they eventually had to settle with 2nd place.

Also on Sunday there was a 1.35m class on the program and here too we saw two Zangersheide horses in the top 10 of the ranking. There was a 4th place for the Mexican rider Gonzalo Azcarrage with the 8-year-old grey mare Cibelle Z (Cicero Z x Cavaro Z – B: Laverge Cleaning NV) and a 9th place for his compatriot Gregorio Martinez Hernandez with the also 8- year-old stallion Bugatti vd Heffinck Z (By Ceira d'Ick x Cassito – F: Peter Leenen). Both managed to keep all the pols in the cups in this speed class.

Finally, there was also blue and yellow success during the 1.35m class on Saturday. This time Gonzalo Azcarraga jumped to a 6th place with the 14-year-old mare Haiti Z (Henry Z x T'Is Voltaire – B: Jorge Martinez) and furthermore there was an 8th place for his compatriot Juan Jose Salinas Pasalagua with the 12-year-old chestnut mare Corona Z (Crown Z x Happy Villers – B: Geraldine Hieronimus). Both suffered a fault during the Winning Round.
