LONGINES GLOBAL CHAMPIONS TOUR

The German rider Daniel Deusser continues to deliver great performances with his 15-year-old chestnut stallion Scuderia 1918 Tobago Z, the son of Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve and Mr. Blue who was bred by Jonas Bellemans. After their 3rd place during the World Cup of Mechelen and a 7th place in Amsterdam, the successful duo also managed to shine during the World Cup of Bordeaux last weekend. On Saturday evening, Deusser and Scuderia 1918 Tobago Z were one of the 17 combinations that managed to qualify for the jump-off after a clear round. In that jump-off they were the second combination at the start and they again managed to ensure a flawless performance. They managed to stop the clock in 37.25 seconds and this performance earned them a 6th place in the ranking this time.

On Saturday there was also a 1.45m high speed class on the program in which there was a top 5 ranking for the Dutch rider Harrie Smolders with the 11-year-old chestnut stallion Escape Z (Emerald van 't Ruytershof x Heartbreaker – B : Wim van Hoof and Yvonne Copal). Smolders and Escape Z kept all the poles in the cups and so secured a 5th place. A day earlier they had also become 7th during a 1.40m class.

The Belgian rider Pieter Devos and his 8-year-old home-bred mare Casual DV Z, a daughter of Cornet Obolensky and Cicero Z, were also placed twice in Bordeaux. Devos and Casual DV Z became 8th both during the 1.45 m class on Saturday and during a 1.50m class on Sunday. But on Sunday, Devos also managed to jump into the spotlights with his 15-year-old mare Claire Z (Clearway x Coronado – B: PGMBH Hammes). During the CSI5* GP they got a fault in the basic round, but due to a fast finish time they still managed to secure a 6th place.

Finally, during the opening day on Friday, Devos' compatriot Wilm Vermeir managed to jump to a podium place with the 10-year-old chestnut stallion Enola Gay Of Two Notes Z (Emerald van 't Ruytershof x Chin Chin – B : Toby Huys). During the 1.50m main class against the clock, they finished clear and secured a 3rd place in the ranking.
