While we could watch the Longines Global Champions Tour of St. Tropez and the CSIO5* Nations Cup of St. Gallen on European soil, in Canada the CSIO5* show of Vancouver-Langley took place last weekend. The American rider Kent Farrington and his 10-year-old chestnut gelding Landon (ex Crack de Nyze Z – Comilfo Plus Z x Quadrillo – F: Danny Nijs) again showed their good form with a clear round during the CSIO5* Nations Cup, but the the most striking name was that of the 12-year-old mare The Diamant Rose Z, a daughter of Toulon and Jaunty Daredevil who was bred in the Netherlands by J. Kemps. The Diamant Rose Z appeared at the start in Vancouver under the saddle of the Brazilian rider Santiago Lambre and on Saturday the became the winners of the CSI2* GP. In a jump-off for which 5 combinations were able to qualify, they were the first combination to start again and they immediately set the tone with a clear round in 36.61 seconds.

Santiago Lambre: “She’s very quick, and when I finished the jump off I knew I’d be at least in the top two. She’s very competitive at this level and I’m trying to keep her in the speed classes; that’s her specialty. She looks hot, but she’s easy to ride. I ride her in a really soft rubber bit. When I watch the videos, it looks harder than it is!”
