Ucenta Z and Milo de Nyze Z are the winners of day 1!
Zangersheide
This morning the time had finally come… At 09.00 am the annual foal championship of Studbook Zangersheide, was kicked off at our Studfarm in Lanaken! During this opening day, it’s traditionally that the youngest foals were the first to make their appearance in the ring, in other words the foals born between May 16, 2023 and June 15, 2023. They were presented today to our expert jury consisting of the Frenchman Eric Levallois, the Germans Hans Meyer and Antonius Schulze-Averdiek and of course Luc Tilleman. They judged the foals based on correctness, movement, type, general impression and dam line. A maximum of 10 points could be achieved for each of these components/criteria.
Fillies
Before noon it was the turn of the first 49 fillies to give their best and in this series the victory went to the foal Ucenta Z, who was bred by Akcakaya-Lorenc Malgorzata. Ucenta Z is a daughter of our stallion Utamaro D'Ecaussines Z and this in combination with the blood of Arko III. The grandmother of Ucenta Z is the grey mare Centa S Z (Carthago Z), who jumped at 1.45m level under the saddle of the Belgian lady rider Gudrun Pateet.
The silver during this first series for fillies went to the foal My Bonnie Van Orti Z, who was bred by Johan Van Oost. My Bonnie Van Orti Z is a daughter of Mylord Carthago out of the mare Dolores van Orti (Heartbreaker), who jumped at 1.40m level with the Belgian rider Jens Van Der Steichel and who is also a half-sister of the stallion Nonstop (Darco).
For the foal Trésor Keijtershof Z there was a third place in this series. Trésor Keijtershof Z was bred by Landuyt – Lefevre and is a daughter of Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve out of the mare Tordina (Lux Z), who jumped at 1.55m level with the Italian rider Gianni Govoni. Trésor Keijtershof Z is also related to the gelding Barry White 3 (Twisther), the former GP horse of the Dutch lady rider Aniek Poels.
Colts
In the afternoon it was the turn of the first series of colts and here and no fewer than 70 foals were presented here. The foal that impressed our jury the most was Milo de Nyze Z, who was bred by Danny Nijs. Milo de Nyze Z is a son of Mumbai van de Moerhoeve out of the mare Indigo van de Meulenberg (Quadrillo) and so a half-brother of none other than the chestnut gelding Landon, the son of Comilfo Plus Z who was born at the home of Danny Nijs as Crack de Nyze Z and with whom the American rider Kent Farrington had already won two CSI5* GPs in recent weeks.
Second place went to the colt Thalimo TS Z, a son of Taloubet Z and Berlin who was bred by Thimo Stegen. The dam of Thalimo TS Z is a half-sister of the GP mare Oruth G (Burggraaf), who in turn is the dam of the GP horses Aquaba de l'Eau (Arko III), Hayley (Glock's London) and of the stallion Istanbul (Kashmir Van Schuttershof), who is approved for Studbook Zangersheide.
Finally, third place went to the foal Crosby KCX Berghoeve Z, who, as his name suggests, was bred by Paul van den Bosch. Crosby KCX Berghoeve Z is a son of Chacco Blue out of the mare Kirby de Muze (Nabab de Rêve), who jumped at 1.50m level under the saddle of the British lady rider Chloe Winchester. Kirby de Muze is also the full sister of the GP horses Nimrod de Muze Z and Morfine de Muze Z and a half-sister of the GP horses Kitona de Muze (Vigo d'Arsouilles) and Levis de Muze (Elvis ter Putte), who is currently impressing under the saddle of the Greek lady rider Ioli Mytilineou.
