After the international classes came to an end this afternoon, it was time for the young stallions to make their entrance during this second edition of 'The Zangersheide International'. While in the 5-year-old stallions the emphasis was on a clear round, in the 6-year-old stallions they jumped for a place in the rankings.
Victory was for the Belgian rider Neal Vanderwegen with the stallion El Cid Z, a son of El Barone 111 Z and Echo van het Neerenbosch, who was bred by Rene Buts and whit whom Vanderwegen also showed strongly at the Belgian Stallion Competition last month. Vanderwegen and El Cid Z kept it clear in both the 1st and the 2nd phase and with a finishing time of 28.24 seconds they managed to outclass the competition again today.
The 2nd place went to lady rider Daisy Bruyninx and the stallion Chadli de Bo Z, a breeding product of Philippe Bormans who combined the blood of Cicero Z with that of Ustinov. Bruyninx and Chadli de Bo Z were already good for a 3rd place in the 5- and 6-year-old stallions during the first edition of 'The Zangersheide International' last year and with a clear round in 28.64 seconds they managed to do even better this year.
Wim Vinckx and the grey stallion Senor de Balou Van 't Ravennest (Balou du Rouet x Cardento VDL - F: Loheky BV) were the 3rd combination to make it onto the podium in this class. As the last combination to start, they managed to put a time of 30.82 seconds on the leaderboard, which was good for a 3rd place in the rankings.
Tim Van den Broeck with C-Nobel Z (Cornet Obolensky x Quick Star - B: Wobbe Kramer) and the Dutch rider Max Van De Poll with New Star (El Barone 111 Z x Vainqueur - B: Jan van Kooten BV) were the other combinations in the top 5 of the rankings.
