Zangersheide Open Day 2026

On Sunday, March 29, 2026, Stoeterij Zangersheide once again opens its doors for a unique behind-the-scenes experience. During this Open Day, we take you through everything that happens on this domain; from the laboratory to the stallion stable, from innovative reproduction techniques to daily life on the domain.

In small groups and in five languages (NL / FR / EN / DE / PL), you will have the opportunity to discover Zangersheide in an interactive way and experience every facet of the studfarm up close.

The journey of semen in our brand-new laboratory
In our brand-new laboratory, we explain step by step how semen is collected, processed and shipped. You will gain insight into the entire process; from the breeding shed, through the non-sterile and sterile labs where processing takes place, to the shipping department. Practical guidance will also be provided on what breeders should do upon receiving semen at home.

Reproduction explained in detail by Equivet
Together with Equivet, you will receive clear explanations about artificial insemination and embryo transfer. Through practical insights, we explain what happens when a mare arrives at Zangersheide, which steps are followed and how the veterinarians operate at the AI station. This is followed by a guided visit of our breeding facilities.

The Zangersheide stallions
During the tour of the stallion stable, you will receive extensive information about our stallions and their qualities. Not only will you be able to admire their appearance, but you will also receive additional information about their sporting and breeding qualities.

Daily life at Zangersheide
During a walk across the domain, you will gain insight into everyday life at Zangersheide. You will discover how our stallions are housed and managed, as well as how we work with young horses in training and older horses enjoying their well-earned retirement.

How is their nutrition composed? When and how often do they go outside? How are they kept in optimal physical and mental condition? This tour provides clear answers to these and many other questions, offering insight into the vision and care behind Zangersheide’s success.

Program
We welcome you from 11:45. Guided tours start at 12:00 and are organized in different languages so every visitor can follow the full program in their own language. Between sessions, there will be time to exchange experiences while enjoying coffee and light refreshments.

From 14:45 onwards, the tours conclude jointly, followed by drinks and informal conversation.
