For the second week in a row, the American rider Kent Farrington jumped to a podium place during the Grand Prix at Wellington International. After his victory with the Comilfo Plus Z son Landon (Ex Crack de Nyze Z – B: Danny Nijs) during the CSI3* GP last week, he finished third in the ranking this time and for that he could once again count on a Zangersheide horse. He was sitting in the saddle of the 9-year-old mare Toulayna, a daughter of Toulon and Parco, who was born at the home of breeder Jasper Doucé as Toulayna van het Bloesemhof Z. After they already finished tenth during de 1.55m class on Thursday, they were one of the fourteen combinations that managed to qualify for the jump-off during the CSI4* GP on Saturday. They again kept all the poles in the cups in that jump-off and so Farrington secured again a place on the podium.

But there was also a blue/yellow victory in Wellington in recent days and that was achieved by the Argentinian rider Tomas Yofre with the 10-year-old mare Eliante Z, a daughter of Ermindo W and Namelus R who was bred in the Netherlands by B.j.c. Frencken-Houben. Yofre and Eliante Z became the winners of the CSI2* 1.40m class on Saturday, where they had more than a full second ahead of the competition with a clear round in 68.04 seconds. And also for them this was already the second time that they were placed this weekend, because on Thursday they already became eighth during the 1.45m class.

Next to Yofre and Eliante Z, we also saw a second Z horse in the top five of the ranking during the 1.40m class on Saturday. The fourth place went to the American lady rider Beezie Madden with the 9-year-old gelding Hummer Z (Harley VDL x Hemmingway – B: P.H.A.E. Bocken). They also managed to provide a nice clear round.

Another striking combination was Madden's compatriot Laura Kraut with the 9-year-old mare Bisquetta, a daughter of Bisquet Balou van de Mispelaere and Takashi van Berkenbroeck, who was born at the home of breeder Claire McCarthy-Winters as Bisquetta Squalls Estate Z. Kraut and Bisquetta started their show on Wednesday with a fifth place in a 1.45m class, then became eighth in a 1.45m class on Friday and ended their show yesterday with a brilliant second place in a 1.50m class.

During the 1.45m class on Wednesday, Belgian Champion Nicola Philippaerts was also placed with the 12-year-old stallion Khan vd Kattevennen Z (Kannan x Heartbreaker – B: BVBA Spronken). He also managed to ensure a clear round and this performance was good for a seventh place in the ranking.

During the 1.45m main class on Thursday, the Canadian rider Chris Pratt took secured a podium place with the 9-year-old gelding Cjoxx Z (Comme Il Faut x Tlaloc la Silla – B: Joop Timmer). In a jump-off for which twelve combinations were able to qualify, they remained clear and this earned them a third place in the ranking.

Finally, a few Zangersheide horses managed to jump into the spotlights during the 1.45m class on Thursday. Next to the eighth place for Tomas Yofre with Eliante Z, there was also a fourth place for the Brazilian rider Fabio Leivas Da Costa with 9-year-old gelding Amigo W Z (Andiamo Z x Contendro I – B: W. van Gestel) and a seventh place for the American lady rider Blythe Karolyi with the 10-year-old stallion Quabra Z (Quabri de l'Isle x Champion – B: Nic Horse SPRL).
