In America last weekend, not only was there action at Thermal's Desert International Horse Park, but the World Equestrian Centre of Ocala once again welcomed the international show jumping crowd. In doing so, several Zangersheide horses also stood out with a few victories and, on top of that, a series of top placings.
The most striking name in the list was that of the 15-year-old mare Cinderella Z, a daughter of Chacco Blue and Julio Mariner xx born to breeder Bram Coosemans. Cinderella Z is one of Irish rider Dylan Daly's Grand Prix horses and together they managed to score a podium place in Ocala in the CSI3* Grand Prix on Saturday night. In a jump-off for which ten out of forty-one combinations qualified, Daly and Cinderella Z once again provided a flawless performance and with a chrono time of 35.12 seconds they secured a brilliant2nd place.
After a strong calendar year, Portuguese Luis Sabino Gonçalves also managed to score again in this CSI3* Grand Prix with his 11-year-old chestnut gelding Scoop de Septon Z, the offspring of Hunters Scendro and Echo van 't Spieveld bred by Elevage De Septon. Sabino Gonçalves and Scoop de Septon Z, who also jumped to 3rd place in the 1.50m class on Thursday, also kept all the rails in the jump-off and with a finishing time of 35.78 seconds they finished just off the podium in 4th place.
There were also two blue and yellow victories in Ocala, one of which went to Mexican rider Maya Ines Denis Chambon and the 9-year-old gelding Callypso de la Hamente Z, a breeding product of Emmanuel Wera who combined the blood of Chellsini Z with that of Kashmir Van Schuttershof. Denis Chambon and Callypso de la Hamente Z, who had already started their competition on Wednesday with a 7th place in the 1.45m class, were the final winners of the 1.45m class on Friday, where a decisive second round in 43.27 seconds gave them over half a second ahead of the competition.
A second victory then came in the name of American rider Chloe Reid and the 8-year-old stallion Souper Ladykiller, a son of London and Presley Boy who was born Ladykiller Sdw Z at breeder Bomo NV. In the 1.40m opening class on Wednesday, Reid and Souper Ladykiller rushed to the finish line in 36.40 seconds in the2nd phase, making them the only combination to manage to keep the chrono under 40 seconds.
In the same class, British rider Jessica Mendoza was also among the prize winners with the 9-year-old mare Ascadina Z, a daughter of Asca Z and Ginus bred in the Netherlands by Stal Poppelaars. Mendoza and Ascadina Z finished in 44.26 seconds in the2nd phase, securing 4th place.
Finally, Canadian Gavin Moylan also achieved success with the 10-year-old stallion Anton SBK Z (Arko III x Quintero ASK) from the breeding farm of Louis Bijloos. During the 1.45m class on Friday, they wrote a nice 3rd place on their record.
