After the denouement of the international programme, this afternoon at Sentower Park it was time for the young approved stallions to make their appearance at this fourth edition of The Zangersheide International. While for the 5-year-old stallions the emphasis was on completing a clear round, the 6-year-old stallions did fight for a place in the rankings.
A total of twenty-two combinations filled the starting list of this 1.20m class reserved for 6-year-old stallions tonight, and in it they jumped at a high level. Indeed, of these twenty-two contenders, fourteen managed to complete both the1st and2nd phases. Once again it was the Belgian riders who took over by claiming the integral podium. The leading role was reserved for Gilles van Hamme and the stallion Contreau van de Wareslage Z, a son of our chestnut stallion Comilfo Plus Z and Toulon born to breeder Lieven Berckmoes. Van Hamme and Contreau van de Wareslage Z finished in 29.39 seconds in the2nd phase, giving them a lead of over half a second over the competition.
Yarno Geeroms and the stallion Prince Cute de Muze Z (Pegasus van 't Ruytershof x Bamako de Muze) were the ones who could threaten Van Hamme and Contreau van de Wareslage Z the closest, seizing2nd place in the standings. Geeroms piloted Joris De Brabander's breeding product to a finishing time of 29.90 seconds. The 3rd laureate on the podium was Wim Vinckx and the stallion Under Pressure by Loheky (Brantzau x Cardento VDL - breeder: Loheky BV). They needed 30.33 seconds to complete their2nd phase.
The Belgian rider Guy Janssen with his breeding product Energy Guy Z (Energy Van 't Breezerhof Z x Canturo) and Jeroen De Winter with Excelsior Optimus Z (Ermitage Kalone x Bamako de Muze - breeder: Optimus Agro) were the other laureates in the top five of the standings.
