Dominator 2000 Z’s daughter secures Grand Prix victory in Williamsburg

Last weekend proved once again to be a particularly successful one for the Z-stallions and their offspring. In addition to the various successes recorded during the Longines Global Champions Tour in Valkenswaard, the Netherlands, there was also cause for celebration in the blue and yellow colours on the other side of the Atlantic. In Williamsburg, USA, it was a son of our stallion Dominator 2000 Z who jumped to victory in the CSI3* Grand Prix.

In the United States, there was international action on the programme last weekend at the Traverse City Horse Show in Williamsburg, where events included the Silver Oak Jumper Tournament. In the accompanying CSI3* Grand Prix, a total of 27 rider-horse pairs took part, and seven of them ultimately managed to complete the 1.50m-high course designed by Colm Quinn and his team without any faults. After a thrilling jump-off, it was the American rider Kent Farrington who claimed the top prize with the 8-year-old mare Dolores PS, a daughter of Dominator 2000 Z and Baloubet du Rouet, bred in Germany by Paul Schockemöhle. Farrington and Dolores PS raced to the finish line in the jump-off in 35.95 seconds, adding their first Grand Prix victory to their list of achievements with great flair.

Kent Farrington: “I’m absolutely delighted with this horse. She’s just making the step up to this level; this is only her first three-star Grand Prix. She competed in her first international competition a week ago and won a class there too, so she’s got off to a brilliant start. The horse comes from a friend of mine, Emanuele Camilli. He told me she was brilliant and that I had to have her in my stable. So far, everything is going well and I’m looking forward to the future.”

As well as Dolores PS’s Grand Prix victory, a descendant of Comilfo Plus Z also made a name for itself in Williamsburg. During Friday’s 1.45m class, it was the American rider Ali Wolff who claimed victory with the 9-year-old mare Hesperide du Breuil, a daughter of Comilfo Plus Z and Hickstead, bred in France by S.A.R.L. JDM Horse. In a jump-off for which eight pairs qualified, Wolff and Hesperide du Breuil crossed the finish line in 35.10 seconds, giving them a lead of about a quarter of a second over their nearest rivals.

Ali Wolff: “She’s a fairly new partner of mine – we’ve been riding together for almost a year now. She’s not yet used to this height. I think this is only our third competition at three-star level, but I’m absolutely delighted with her. She’s developing very well.”
