With the CSIO5* of La Baule, there was also a second five-star show on French soil last weekend. The Swedish rider Marcus Westergren managed to achieve some strong performances there with the 10-year-old grey mare Fellaini de Liebri Z, a daughter of Bull Run's Faustino de Tili and Corrado I who was bred by De Liebri BVBA. Westergren and Fellaini De Liebri Z immediately got off to an excellent start with a victory in the 1.50m main class on Thursday. In a class against the clock, they had a small lead over the competition with a clear round in 64.31 seconds.

But the duo also played a leading role during CSIO5* GP on Sunday. After a clear round, they were one of the 14 combinations that managed to qualify for the jump-off. They again managed to deliver a flawless performance and with a finish time of 36.87 seconds they secured a 4th place in the ranking.

Another striking combination in La Baule was the Belgian rider Grégory Wathelet with the 10-year-old mare Berline du Maillet Z, a daughter of Berlin and Action-Breaker who was bred in France by Laurent Thirion and Delphine Mambour. Wathelet and Berline du Maillet Z were placed for the first time on Friday with a 4th place during the 1.45m high speed class and on Sunday followed a 3rd place during another 1.45m class.

Finally, also a few horses jumped into the picture during the 1.40m high opening class on Thursday. There was a 3rd place for the Belgian rider Jérôme Guery with the 9-year-old mare Come Away Flamingo Z (Cardeno VDL x Dollar du Murier – B: Alexandra Rantet), a 6th place for the Japanese rider Tomoki Koshidaka with the 10-year-old grey stallion Carits de Nyze Z (Cayado x Mr. Blue – B: Danny Nijs) and a 10th place for the Swiss lady rider Janika Sprunger with the 8-year-old mare A Kinmar Scarlett Z (Akarad Hero Z x Lys de Darmen – B: Gerry Marron & Luke Henry).
