Petunia V T’ Hof Van Dorslaer Z wins the free jumping championship for 3-year-olds

Following the final rounds of the Belgian Zangersheide Foal Championship, it was the turn of the 3-year-olds to take centre stage on the third day of the Z-Festival 2026. In the Indoor Arena, twenty-three promising young horses were given the chance to demonstrate their natural jumping ability during the traditional free jumping championship. Our expert jury assessed each horse on technique, ability and overall impression, awarding a maximum of ten points for each criterion.

Victory ultimately went to Petunia V T’ Hof Van Dorslaer Z, a mare bred by Jean Van Dorslaer and owned by Chloé De Bontridder. This daughter of Pegase van ’t Ruytershof and D’Amerique Van De Vlasrede Z was the second horse to enter the ring and immediately made an excellent impression on the judges. With 8.50 points for both technique and ability and 7.50 points for overall impression, she achieved a total score of 24.50 points, crowning her as champion.

Second place went to the mare Quadira Z, a breeding product of Rouin Souvereyns. This daughter of Qannando B&V and Cordalme Z is out of the mare Kenza, the full sister of Cookie B, Brian Woldring-Walker’s former Grand Prix mare. Kenza is also a half-sister to Landzeu 2 (Landadel), who competed at the very highest level under the saddle of Giuseppe D’Onofrio. Quadira Z also impressed with a strong performance and was awarded three scores of 8.00 by the judges, giving her a total score of 24.00 points.

The bronze went to Komaan J.A. Z, a son of Kannan out of the Asca Z mare Apart J.A. Z and bred by Jean-André Souvereyns. His granddam, Ulin Verte (Lux Z), won numerous national classes herself under the saddle of Jean-André Souvereyns and is also the dam of Kannem J.A. Z (Kannan), the former Grand Prix horse of British rider Robert Murphy. Komaan J.A. Z achieved a total score of 23.50 points, comprising 7.50 points for technique and 8.00 points for both ability and overall impression.
