They were already very close a few times last year with a 2nd place in both the CSI2* GP of Opglabbeek and the CSIU25 GP of Stockholm, but a GP victory was not yet reserved for the Belgian rider Sacha Beghuin and his 11-year-old stallion Elcup Van Beek II Z. That changed last weekend, because during the international show in Lier, the duo jumped to the victory during the CSI2* GP! Beghuin and Elcup Van Beek II Z, a son of Elvis Ter Putte and Armitage who was bred by Guido Herrijgers, were one of the 19 combinations that remained clear in the basic round and so managed to qualify for the jump-off. They once again provided a flawless performance and with a finishing time of 38.03 seconds they managed to beat the competition.

Next to Beghuin and Elcup Van Beek II Z, we saw a second Zangersheide horse in the top 10 of the rankings during this CSI2* GP thanks to the Dutch rider Robert Vos and the 8-year-old gelding Cadillac Z, a son of Carrera VDL and Quasimodo vd Molendreef who was bred in the Netherlands by G. Weggemans. Vos and Cadillac Z already finished 5th on Thursday during the 1.40m class and secured an 8th place during the CSI2* GP after also a double clear round.

The 2nd place during this 1.40m class on Thursday went to the Brazilian rider Thiago Ribas Da Costa and the 10-year-old chestnut mare Catharina W&W Z (Centurio 22 x Griseldi – B: Wilfried Rutten), with whom he achieved twice a 3rd place in Bonheiden the week before. Ribas Da Costa and Catharina W&W Z remained clear in this class against the clock and so achieved another top ranking.

During the 1.40m class on Friday there was a blue/yellow victory and this was achieved by the Swedish lady rider Ebba Danielsson with the 12-year-old mare T-Gavoli Z, a daughter of Twister de la Pomme and Calvaro Z, who was bred in the Netherlands by G.J.A. Moerings. In both the 1st and the 2nd phase, they managed to keep all the poles in the cups and with a finishing time of 24.19 seconds they had a lead of more than half a second over the competition.

Finally, there was also a top 5 ranking for the British lady rider Jodie Hall McAteer with the 8-year-old chestnut mare Chica vh Ven Z (Comme Il Faut x Oramé VDL – B: An Verschelde). During the 1.40m class on Saturday, they remained clear in both the basic round and the jump-off, which earned them a 5th place in the rankings.
