Son of Tobago Z helps secure World title for Germany

The FEI World Championships Aachen 2026 yielded excellent results for Zangersheide’s blue and yellow colours, not only in the individual events but also in the team competition. Four horses with Zangersheide blood in their veins managed to jump their way to a medal with their national teams. This meant that Zangersheide horses were once again well represented on the World Championships podium.
The star of the show in the team competition was the 12-year-old stallion Otello de Guldenboom, a son of our chestnut stallion Tobago Z and Caretino, bred by Hugo Versnick. Together with his rider Daniel Deusser, Otello de Guldenboom was part of the German team that clinched the gold medal on Friday evening. Deusser and Otello de Guldenboom remained clear of faults in both the first qualifier on Wednesday and the rounds on Thursday and Friday. In doing so, they played a key role in Germany’s world title victory.
Three silver medals
In addition to Otello de Guldenboom’s gold team medal, there were three further silver medals for horses with Zangersheide bloodlines during the Nations Cup. After a thrilling finale, the silver went to Belgium, which fielded no fewer than three Z-class horses. Thibeau Spits rode Impress-K van ’t Kattenheye Z, whilst Pieter Devos rode his 11-year-old mare Casual DV Z (Cornet Obolensky x Cicero Z van Paemel – breeder: Devos Stables) and Abdel Saïd with the 11-year-old gelding Wathnan Quaker Brimbelles Z (Quicksilver St Simeon x Hickstead – breeder: Haras Des Brimbelles) also contributed to Belgium’s silver medal.
