Another busy day on US soil last weekend, where international competitions were scheduled at no less than four venues. In the northeast of the country, international show jumping took place for the second week in a row at the Lake Placid Horse Show in New York. There, American rider Campbell Brown had another successful weekend with her 11-year-old chestnut mare Colina Z.
Brown and Colina Z (C-Ingmar x Carthago Z - Breeder: J.R.J Evenhuis and L.G. Morsink) were already in the limelight last week with a win in the 1.45m main class on Saturday and effortlessly continued that strong line last weekend. As such, they secured a podium place in the 1.50m Grand Prix Qualifier on Thursday. In a jump-off for which 11 combinations managed to qualify, they again produced a flawless round and their finishing time of 40.81 seconds earned them 3rd place in the rankings.
But the young duo also impressed again during the CSI3* Grand Prix on Saturday. Brown and Colina Z stayed clear in the first round and were among the fourteen combinations that managed to advance to the decisive jump-off. In it, they again kept the 0 on the scoreboard and with a finishing time of 41.91 seconds they secured 4th place.
In the 1.50m Grand Prix Qualifier on Thursday, however, the victory also got a blue/yellow touch thanks to Colombian Mark Bluman and the 10-year-old mare Phelia de Septon, a daughter of our stallion Jenson van 't Meulenhof Z and Landor S out of the breeding of Elevage de Septon. Bluman and Phelia de Septon sped to the finish line in 38.19 seconds in that 11-strong jump-off, putting them exactly half a second ahead of the rest of the field of competitors.
Another notable combination in Lake Placid was Brown's compatriot Katherine A. Dinan and the 11-year-old chestnut mare Diamantina Z, a daughter of Diamant de Semilly and Narcos II bred by Sabine Daems of Ushuaia Horses NV. Dinan and Diamantina Z immediately got off to an excellent start to their competition on Wednesday, when they secured2nd place in the 1.45m opening class. During both the1st and2nd phases they did not show any faults. On Friday, Dinan and Diamantina Z also confirmed this performance when they jumped to 6th place in another 1.45m class.
Traverse City Horse Shows - Williamsburg
Furthermore, the United States also hosted a three-star competition at the Traverse City Horse Show in Williamsburg last weekend, where Canadian rider Ali Ramsay jumped into the limelight with her Z-horses. For example, she appeared twice at the start with both 14-year-old mare Bonita vh Keizershof Z (Bustique x For Pleasure - Breeder: Leon Otten) and the 12-year-old gelding Conrado 12 (Cardento VDL x Diarado - Breeder: Duka Invest D.O.O), which also resulted in four top 10 placings. With Bonita vh Keizershof Z she finished 5th in the 1.45m class on Thursday and 3rd in the 1.45m main class on Friday, while with Conrado 12 she finished 9th in that class on Thursday and 4th in Friday's class.
Moreover, during that 1.45m main class on Friday, there was also a 5th place for American rider Charlotte Murray and also 12-year-old stallion Magnum Z (HH Messenger x Diarado - Breeder: Erik Verbist).
