Next to the Longines Global Champions Tour of Paris, a second five-star competition took place last weekend with the famous CHIO of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. It became again a top weekend for the Irish rider Daniel Coyle and the 13-year-old mare Legacy, a daughter of Chippendale Z and Bon Ami who was born at the home of breeder Rotty Romain as Chavantele Z.

Coyle and Legacy managed to jump into the picture a the first time when they managed to write the 1.50m class on their list of honors on Friday afternoon. In this class against the clock they finished in 61.67 seconds and with that performance they were more than a full second ahead of the competition.

On Sunday afternoon, Coyle also counted on his top mare for the CSIO5* GP and the duo played a leading role in this as well. After a clear round, they were one of the 11 combinations that managed to qualify for the jump-off. They seemed to be on their way to the victory after a convincing clear round in 40.47 seconds, but in the end they had to put up with the Dutch rider Willem Greve (Hightway M TN).

Another striking combination in Rotterdam was the Dutch rider Pim Mulder with the 11-year-old grey gelding Memphis Z, a son of Mylord Carthago and Candillo Z who was bred in the Netherlands by Freek Hoogenboom. Mulder and Memphis Z appeared at the start twice and also managed to jump to a top 10 ranking twice. After an 8th place during the 1.45m class on Thursday during the opening day, the highlight of the weekend followed during the 1.50m class on Saturday. In a jump-off for which 15 combinations were able to qualify, they again remained clear and this performance also earned them a nice 2nd place in the ranking.

The Danish rider Soren Moeller Rohde was also placed in this class with the 9-year-old stallion Action Man Ask Z (Action-Breaker x Calvados Z – B: Ann Van Heyst). They also remained clear in both the basic round and the jump-off, which in turn was good for a 5th place in the ranking.

Next to the CSIO5* competition, a CSI2* competition also took place in Rotterdam and we also saw some Zangersheide horses perform well here. During the CSI2* GP, for example, a podium place was reserved for the Belgian lady rider Evelyne Putters with the 12-year-old grey gelding Nabeau van het Migroveld Z (Nabab de Rêve x Taran de la Pomme – B: William De Winne). Putters and Nabeau van het Migroveld Z, who also placed 8th and 10th the days before, were among the 12 combinations that managed to qualify for the jump-off and secured a 3rd place in the ranking after another clear round.

Finally, the Dutch lady rider Britt Schaper managed to jump into the spotlight twice with the 8-year-old gelding Guidam Sohn The Second Z (Guidam Sohn x Indoctro – B: C. den Boer). They started their show on Thursday with a victory during the 1.40m class and on Sunday a 3rd place followed during the 1.35m class.
