Top sport of the highest level tonight in Sentower Park during the Open Stallion competition, the denouement of the third day of The Zangersheide International. A total of 25 combinations took their chance during this 1.45m class, which also counted for the Longines ranking, and 15 of them managed to qualify for the jump-off after a clear round.

In that jump-off it went faster and faster with the Belgian lady rider Marthe Heudens and her 10-year-old BWP stallion Newton Van't Zorgvliet (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Balou du Rouet) as the final winners. Heudens rode a very strong jump-off with the breeding product of Jerry Braeckevelt and managed to blow the competition away with a clear round in 35.91 seconds.

With this performance she referred her compatriot Wilm Vermeir to a 2nd place in the ranking. Vermeir and his also 10-year-old Zangersheide stallion Enola Gay Of Two Notes Z, a son of Emerald van 't Ruyershof and Chin Chin who was bred by Toby Huys, had just taken over the lead with a finish time of 36.60 seconds, but in the end he had to settle with the first place of honor.

The 3rd place went to Koen Vereecke with the 13-year-old BWP stallion Kasanova de la Pomme, a son of Bamako de Muze and Malito de Reves who was bred by Geert Baertsoen from Haras de la Pomme. He also caused a spectacular jump-off and managed to stop the clock in 36.61 seconds.

Christian Ahlmann jumped to a 4th place with our 9-year-old stallion d'Aganix 2000 Z (Dominator 2000 Z x Aganix du Seigneur Z – B: Corthouts & Foriers) while the Brazilian rider Marlon Modolo Zanotelli followed in 5th place with the also 9-year-old stallion Comthago VDL (Comme Il Faut x Carthago Z – B: Wilhelm Kochs).
