The second group of foals danced the night away at the Zangersheide Quality Auction on Saturday evening. Once again it was a full house and there were lots of eager buyers playing the auction bidding game. Not only for the highest selling foal, but the 41-strong-group of foals got many hands in the air.

Topseller Colosseo MVD Z carries enviable genes. This colt by Casall ASK is out of the same dam (Carthina Z) as Emerald vh Ruytershof. With its pedigree packed with promising references,  the full scope of it was too much for auctioneer Frederick de Backer to mention to the audience. Bid after bid came in and the crowd soon saw the price near the 100K. With several parties’ intent to win the bid and own this exceptional foal, the final number rose to 120.000 euro offered by buyers from the UAE.

As many as 16 foals sold over 50.000 euro with the second most expensive foals also directly related to Mumbai. On Friday night Daiquiri H Z (Diamant de Semilly x Nabab de Reve), a full sister to Mumbai, was the highest selling filly (82.000 euro). On Saturday full brother Dumbai CP Z sold for nearly the same amount, 86.000 euro to Switserland.

The highest selling filly on Saturday was Eres Tu de Regor Z (Emerald x Cento). This fine filly went under the hammer for 76.000 euro to Poland. The fillies did well overall, raising the bar even higher than Friday night. This time with a remarkable average price of 52.333 euro. The colts gathered anaverage of 37.783 euro.

For a total average price of 44.171 euro the foals found new homes in Romania, USA, South Africa, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Brazil and only a hand full will remain in Belgium.
