After Moerzeke in July, the second edition of the Equestrian Cup took place last weekend at the Hubside Jumping in St. Tropez. The Swiss rider Pius Schwizer had a great weekend, as he managed to jump to a victory no fewer than 3 times. The highlight was of course his victory during the CSI3* GP with the 10-year-old chestnut gelding Chelsea Z, a son of the grey stallions Chellano Alpha Z and Cicero Z who was bred in the Netherlands by Willy Sijbers and who Schwizer recently took over from his compatriot Bryan Balsiger. Schwizer and Chelsea Z were one of the 14 combinations that remained clear in the basic round and so qualified for the jump-off. They once again managed to complete a flawless round and with a time of 42.29 seconds they immediately won a GP during their first international show together!

Next to his victory in the CSI3* GP, Schwizer also won twice a class with the 9-year-old mare Scarlina de Tiji Z, a daughter of Scendro and Kannan who was bred in Belgium by Tim Van Tricht. After a 3rd place during the 1.40m class on Thursday, Schwizer and Scarlina de Tiji Z managed to beat the competition during both the 1.45m class on Friday and during the Longines Ranking class on Saturday.

Another striking combination in St. Tropez was the French rider Cédric Hurel with the 13-year-old gelding Fantasio Floreval Z, a son of Florian de la Vie and Clinton who was bred in France by Evelyne Pater. Hurel and Fantasio Floreval Z started their show on Thursday with a clear round during the 1.40m class and in the following days they secured a 2nd place in the rankings both during the 1.45m high Longines Ranking class on Saturday and during the CSI3* GP on Sunday.

Also on Sunday, the CSI2* GP was on the program in St. Tropez and here too there was blue/yellow success. The bronze went to the French lady rider Alexa Ferrer with the 8-year-old mare Caetlin Vd Heffinck Z, a daughter of Chacco Blue and our grey stallion Cabrio Z, who was bred by the Hamerlinck family. Ferrer and Caetlin Vd Heffinck Z remained clear in both the basic round and the jump-off and once again ensured a top ranking after they already finished 4th during the 1.45m high Longines Ranking class on Friday. For the Belgian lady rider Stéphanie d'Andrimont there was a 7th place during this CSI2* GP with the 9-year-old mare Dardare Brimbelles Z (Darco x President – B: Haras des Brimbelles) and for the French rider Philippe Rozier a 10th place with the 8-year-old grey stallion Corsini Vd Keihill Z (Cornet Obolensky x Cassini I – B: Peter Bakkers).

Finally, the French lady rider Chloé Michellier was placed twice with the 11-year-old mare Calandula Z (Calgary du Seigneur x Garanco – F: Vorselmans & Geurts). They managed to secure a 3rd place in the rankings during both the 1.30m class on Thursday and during the 1.35m class on Friday.
