New Life - Devil D`Amour Ice Z & Extra Chacco Lady Z

Udo Irmisch is 47 years old and runs his own horse breeding farm in Dresden. In April, two Zangersheide foals were born to him, by Extra Z and Devil 2000 Z. "After my training at the Staatsstoeterij Moritzburg, I took the step towards self-employment. By now I have been active as a breeder for 20 years.

In the early years I still combined this with participation in competitions, but due to the growth of our breeding farm - we now breed around 8 to 10 foals a year - I can rarely be found in the saddle myself." Udo receives valuable support from his girlfriend Nadine, who also breeds as a hobby. "From her breeding comes, among others, the mare Valeska Z, who achieved a nice 4th place in the Z ranking."

Devil D'Amour Ice Z

On 2 April, the colt Devil D'Amour Ice Z was born to a young mare by Asca Z out of a Contendro I dam. "This line goes back to the famous As Cold As Ice line. She herself placed at 1m45 level and proved herself as a modern sport mare who could also be ridden well by an amateur.

We combined this mare with Devil 2000 Z. His strong canter, suppleness and freedom of movement were decisive. The aim was to give the foal more elasticity and space in his movements, and this combination definitely delivered. He is already showing paternal charisma, has a beautiful head, good balance and a generous canter."

Extra Chacco Lady Z

A few weeks later, on 21 April, the filly Extra Chacco Lady Z was born. "Her dam is Coconut Kiss, a mare with an impressive pedigree: Chacco Blue x Argentinus x Grannus x Zeus. Coconut Kiss herself jumped successfully up to 1m45 level and is a typey mare with a strong frame and a fine attitude. She passes on a lot of quality to her offspring.

When choosing stallions, we always pay attention to balance, character and sport ability. We combined Coconut Kiss with Extra Z. This stallion jumps with a lot of overview and carefulness, which perfectly matches the qualities of the dam's line. Above all, we wanted to keep the attitude and overview, and that has certainly succeeded in this foal."

Extra Chacco Lady Z is already showing promising characteristics. "She is built uphill, moves with great balance and power, and possesses a good dose of temperament, exactly what we were looking for in this combination. She is a classy mare with a lot of flair and spunk. She is curious, sharp, and likes to show off, traits we would love to see in the sport in the future."

Udo rears all the foals himself. "Our horses stay with us until they are four years old. Only then do we decide whether they go to the sport or to a new owner. That way we make sure that every young jumper gets a good foundation and is ready for his or her future career."
