Record price of €340,000 for son of Dourkhan Hero Z at second Zangersheide Stallion Auction

What a phenomenal evening it turned out to be again during the second edition of the Zangersheide Stallion Auction, during 'The Zangersheide International'. The stands were once again packed and under the approving eye of auctioneer Frederik De Backer, 16 stallions, approved earlier in the day for Studbook Zangersheide, were auctioned.

The absolute eycatcher of the evening was the 4-yr-old stallion Dourking Hero Z, a breeding product of Luc Henry who combines the blood of the great Zangersheide breeding stallion Dourkhan Hero Z with the blood of Kassander van 't Roosakker Z. Moreover, Dourking Hero Z is a grandson of the GP mare Attoucha Hero Z, the daughter of Aganix du Seigneur Z and the top horse of American rider Paris Sellon. With the superb technique and athletic ability he clearly inherited from his sire, Dourking Hero Z managed to impress many prospective buyers and was eventually sold to one of the biggest stallion owners in the world for a record price of no less than 340,000 euros! He will soon leave for his new stables in Germany.

Who also easily passed the 100,000 euro mark was the 3-year-old chestnut stallion Cognac vh Gebergte Z, a son of Chacco Blue and Diamant de Semilly bred by Bob and Elke Janssens and a grandson of Niels Bruynseels' former GP mare Ilusionata van 't Meulenhof (Lord Z). Cognac vh Gebergte Z combines his impressive pedigree with a fantastic way of jumping and he is moving to Thea Stinnet’s Heathman Farm in the USA for a sum of €140,000.

Heathman Farm also invested during this second edition of the Zangersheide Stallion Auction in the 3-year-old stallion El Tornado Van Het Vlierhof Z, a son of Eldorado van de Zeshoek and Cristallo I from the breeding of the Repriels - Owen family. An amount of 86,000 euro was paid for El Tornado Van Het Vlierhof Z after a heated bidding duel, and so he too is making the crossing to the other side of the ocean.
